Be my Valentine

Whether you're in a relationship or not, Valentines is still a fun time of year. I will admit, before I was in a relationship I did think Valentines Day was quite irrelevant; why do couples need one day of the year to show their love for each other! Now that James has dulled my cynical side and become my best boyfriend I can see its more than just a corny/money making ploy by retailers. I like to think of it as a day to reflect on your loved ones; that be your best girl friends, siblings or your boyfriend/girlfriend. 

I did some research on the meaning of Valentines day for you all, and let me tell you it wasn't all love hearts and chocolates! St Valentine's day or The Feast of St Valentine began as a liturgical celebration for St Valentine who was said to be prosecuted for performing weddings for soldiers who were forbidden to be married. Oh how very romantic! Nowadays, Valentines day is all love hearts, chocolates and cheesy Hallmark cards. 

And for those that don't care about all that kitsch, its still a nice excuse to get dressed up. The lovely ladies at Fine 59 Boutique allowed me to style these amazing pieces to show you. 

Of course traditional red is the go-to colour of Valentines day, but I think a cute LWD (little white dress) goes great with a pop of colour on the lips. I used CHANEL Lipstick in Vertige for this look. Teamed with a 1950's curl and a swipe of liner, this is a perfect look for a romantic Valentine's Dinner.
